Episode #8 Tactical 22s

This week we talk about tactical 22′s. Not true AR-15′s but rifles that at least resemble AR’s in configuration. I present five different rifles and give some opinions on each. Not too much, just a couple thoughts. If you’re shopping for a tactical 22, look through the links and see what would work best for you. For me having a rifle that most closely matches what I’d use in a centerfire rifle is what I look for. That and the ability to use iron sights. Not all these rifles fit that description but they might work just fine for your needs.

.22LR Ammo Issues

It seems to me that a lot of the issues with .22LR firearms is ammo related. I’m mainly talking about semi-auto of course. So many guns it seems have particular diets that they like to stick to. Some ammo like the Remington Golden Bullet doesn’t  like to work in anything from what I have seen. I’d like to hear about what gun/ammo combinations work for you. Let me here about it and we’ll put a show together.

Random thoughts

I needed to test my mobile app for WordPress and thought I’d use the moment to put down some Rimfire thoughts. While I find it fun to plink and test out guns I haven’t shot before, I really like bringing serious with my shooting. By serious I mean getting in some solid training shooting at some one inch squares or the Appleseed Projects AQT targets. I really enjoy that a lot more than goofing around. I hate shooting from a bench and generally prefer shooting kneeling or prone. I do think I would enjoy setting up a bunch of swinging targets at 100 yards and going at them with my AR with the 22 conversion in it. I enjoy the idea of Michael Bane’s animal cracker safari. I want another bolt action .17HMR to see just how far I can shoot it. 300 yards? Shoot at some reduced targets? Sounds like some good frustrating fun huh?
What’s your idea of Rimfire fun? Does anyone cowboy action shoot with their 22s? What are your thoughts? Call in, email us, or comment here!!

On the road, and other notes……….

Hey Folks! My wife and I are on a road trip right now so I don’t know if I’ll get a show out or not before I get back to El Paso. I did however want to inform you of some good stuff going for the show. I have a newer computer and a Shure microphone coming to hopefully produce a much better sounding show. Also, while we are here in Colorado I’ll be hopefully getting to the range and shooting with a friend that has a GSG-5 .22LR Rifle, the MP5 clone. So the next show may be a review on that.

Episode 2

Well, episode 2 is here and I was hoping to improve the audio quality a little but it actually kinda sucks. My apologies.

Episode one on its way.

Well folks, Episode one is done and in the can. I’m new at using wordpress and have to figure out how to get it onto the site. Bare with me, we’ll get there. Anyway the show is about whether you should get a conversion bolt for your AR-15 or just get a dedicated upper in .22lr.
